Being the boss is lonely and stressful. Problems that arise at work often cannot be discussed outside of the business setting, yet there is no one to talk to. Since I am an entrepreneur, I understand the depth of your challenges. My coaching has grown out of my experiences, and the coaching I do with all our business clients. Holt Capital coaching clients are success-oriented people who expect a lot from their people, and more from themselves. I coach either on a set or a flexible schedule. The Situation

An entrepreneur building his second business found himself challenged by three main issues: the many opportunities he had identified for his new company; employees who acted more like buddies than company builders; and a more hostile business niche than his previous company had operated within.

He was becoming highly stressed, which was alienating him from his children, his spouse, and his customers. He was forgetting commitments, orders, and meetings. He realized that he had become less efficient that he had been before, but he was “running so fast that he couldn’t catch up with himself.”

The Solution

First, the client and I assessed the problems, and found some solutions that could be easily attained, then worked on heading off problems. Second, we developed ways that he could reestablish himself as the BOSS, and effectively build and mentor a company team. Third, we worked on his decision making processes.

Throughout the engagement, I acted as a sounding board. I helped the client focus on a variety of immediate needs while keeping the goal in sight. This helped him decrease the chaos in his life, and set schedules that made his family come first, while giving his business the attention it required. Together, we analyzed the market cycles for his new business, defined growth expectations, and focused on profitable rapid expansion.
