What is Community Supported Agriculture?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. The CSA system is one in which a relationship is restored between the Farmer and the Consumer. Often called Crop Sharing, CSA programs are able to distribute fresh and pesticide-free produce to local consumers. Currently there are over a thousand CSA farms in the nation.
The cooperative benefits of participating in a CSA are many. Local produce is considered more nutritious because of its freshness. The consumer who buys a farm share for the season enjoys fresh, ethically and responsibly farmed products. They also share a sense of ownership in the farm that is growing their food. Consumers will have the opportunity to see where their food comes from and know exactly who grew it. Paying for the share in advance helps the farmer to have the capital to buy seeds, supplies and soil amendments. This eliminates the farmer's dependency on the bank and on unsafe chemicals that would otherwise guarantee a harvest. \So, in turn, your money not only buys you safe food, but, also, you are helping to sustain agriculture on local farmland and to preserve the environment for now and future generations.
How shall I pay for my Summer Share?
You can conveniently and securely pay online using PayPal, which allows you to use Visa, MasterCard, AmEx, Discover, Echeck, or your own PayPal account. We are sorry but we cannot accept debit cards.
And, of course, you can pay by check or cash. Please call us at 360-692-2504, tell us the size share you want, and leave us your name and phone number. We'll call you back.

More about Community Supported Agriculture
The CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) movement has become significant in the changing face of the American food industry. It may be the only way that family farms like ours survive the juggernaut of federally subsidized industrial farming, and food imported by multinational corporations from poor and unregulated countries. We hire local people who support our Kitsap economy.
Your pledge to support our farming operation gives spiritual as well as an economic support. Together we share a connection with the Earth: healing of the Earth and ourselves. You also help us maintain bio-diversity. Industrial farmers must chose their varieties based on a long shelf life., which often means GMO seeds. Your support helps us plant and grow varieties of vegetables, some heritage types, that are chosen for the Kitsap growing season, nutrition, and, most of all, flavor.
